There was a great deal of pomp and circumstance as the presentation of colors took place. Then everyone in the auditorium, which was filled to capacity, said the Pledge of Allegiance. After the invocation and formal candlelight ceremony took place, there was a solo performed by Stanley Skidmore, followed by a bugler who played Taps. Then a presentation by the Ladybirds Barbershop Harmony Singers, under the direction of Shirley Carson, was featured. They sang Battle Hymn of the Republic, A Cohan Medley, and Let There Be Peace On Earth.

The speaker for the evening was Col. Melissa A. Rank who took the audience on a tour through all the wars in which the Americans have fought. One of her statements was that, “All gave some and some gave all.” Following Col. Rank’s excellent “travelogue,” a salute to the Veterans was presented by the Frostburg Dance Academy under the direction of Amy Gordon, owner.

The program ended with the retirement of the colors and the audience singing God Bless America. Everyone was touched by the spoken word and the music presented. Surely, people will never forget the veterans who have fought for and served their country so selflessly.
