The Farmer’s Market Is Open
Once again this year, the Ladybirds were invited to sing for the opening of the Farmer’s Market. The group, rehearsed and ready for this performance, and dressed in appropriate costume, met on the Downtown Cumberland Mall, where all the vendors had set up their booths and displayed their produce. They meet in this location every Thursday until September for people to pick up their favorite fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, baked goods, etc.
As the Ladybirds were preparing to begin their performance, LeRoy Myers stopped and spoke to them and invited them to entertain at an event he had planned for July. LeRoy Myers is the Republican delegate to the Maryland Legislature. He asked if he could take the Ladybirds’ picture and then posed for a snapshot with them.
The weather was very nice the day of the Farmer’s Market opening. Many people enjoyed the entertainment that was provided that day, especially that of the Ladybirds. After performing, the Ladybirds went to the Culinaire Café for a delicious lunch. While their food orders were being filled, the Ladybirds serenaded the other diners in the restaurant. Barbershoppers can’t resist bursting into harmony!
