Ladybirds Barbershop Harmony Singers

At Covenant House

Posted in Performances on Monday, July 24, 2006

The Ladybirds were invited to vist the Covenant House Adult Day Care Center in Cumberland. Carol Harr (baritone) was instrumental in setting up the gig there. Her brother and her mother attend Covenant House daily on a regular basis, and Carol herself even goes there on occasion.

The day was very pretty when we all arrived for the performance in our white slacks and Sing and Be Happy shirts, and our goal was to make the audience happy! We involved them by having a brief sing-along. Both quartets, Afternoon Delight and Havin’ Fun, sang songs during the program. Afternoon Delight sang Grandma’s Featherbed and Havin’ Fun sang a medley of Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Heart Of My Heart and I Love You Truly. The chorus sang such songs as We Sing Our Hearts Out, Daddy Sang Bass, Country Roads, Hi, Neighbor, The Irish Blessing and God Bless America, to name a few of our selections.

Harold Hoopengarner was present that day and took pictures for our Gallery. You can see some of the pictures here and the rest are in the Covenant House July 2006 photo album. After the show, the chorus met at Geatz’s Restaurant for an enjoyable lunch and, of course, a few more songs!
