Pat Yeager, graduate of Fort Hill High School (class of 1951), invited the Ladybirds Chorus to sing for their 55th Class Reunion, which was held on August 12th at the Shrine Club. The event was attended by at least 100 people, who enjoyed a wonderful meal, the Ladybirds performance, and a dance as the final activity of the evening.

Pat suggested some of the song titles that she thought the group would enjoy, including:

  • Hi Neighbor
  • When the Saints
  • This is the Army
  • I’m Still Havin’ Fun
  • Music, Music, Music
  • You’re A Grand Old Flag
  • God Bless America
  • The Irish Blessing

The chorus rehearsed for the program and also learned the lyrics to the Fort Hill Alma Mater, with which they ended their performance.

Sandy Daughton, president of the chorus and emcee for their performances, related significant trivia of the era during which the attendees grew up. Some of the facts included the price of gasoline, the cost of bread, the traditions of the era, and celebrities born the year of these folks’ graduation — 1951.

Sandy announced our show, A Night at the Music Box, telling the group of the date, time, and location — September 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Allegany College Theatre. Earlier in the evening Sandy had given each member of the audience a number to be drawn for a door prize. The prize was two free tickets to A Night at the Music Box.

The audience seemed to have a wonderful time during their evening of reminiscing and celebrating!
