The Ladybirds held their dress rehearsal tonight at Allegany College Theater. Everyone arrived in a timely manner, and several volunteers from the Western Maryland Food Bank were present to assist in setting up the stage. Everyone worked hard, and in short order the platforms were in place and the tables and chairs were arranged in the format we had selected very early on. The archway was put on stage right, along with the Victrola and Nipper, His Master’s Voice — that is very attractive on the stage. Stage left there was a bar in the Music Box Cafe and also a tree which will be lighted. There will be lights on the arch, too.
Liz was busily helping some of the ladies with their makeup. She was well prepared with everything necessary to make the ladies look beautiful…
We are very appreciative of all the time and effort that went into publicizing A Night at the Music Box. Betty Twigg, publicity chairperson, started very early to arrange for articles and pictures of the Ladybirds to appear in the Cumberland Times-News and the Allegany Arts Council newsletter and on television’s Channel 8. Diana Loar sent out press releases to many radio stations and organizations. Diana is the head of the Western Maryland Food Bank, which will receive the profits of the show. Ken Batchelor was instrumental in sending publicity materials via email to various communications media.
Hey, Ladies! The programs were delivered on Wednesday, August 22nd and Karen brought them to rehearsal the next evening. They are truly beautiful! You saw the proof that had been sent earlier so you have an idea of how the program looks. We are very pleased with them and again and again wish to extend our thanks to Super Shoes and Victor Holler! Thank you! Thank you!
The last few rehearsals are proving that we are getting closer and closer to being ready to perform…
