Ladybirds Give WMFB $3,000+0
Diana Loar, Executive Director of the Western Maryland Food Bank, received a check for over $3,000 from the proceeds of A Night at the Music Box. On November 2nd, she met the Ladybirds at the Park Place United Methodist Church for a photograph to be taken with the chorus and a GIANT check made out to the Western Maryland Food Bank and signed by the Ladybirds. The check was designed by David Daughton–Sandy Daughton’s son.

One of the best of the pictures will be submitted to the Cumberland Times/News for publication so that the local community will know of the worthy cause, which benefitted from the Ladybird’s barbershop show on September 9, 2006.
After the photo session with Frank Batchelor was over, Diana Loar asked to speak to the group to express her thanks, and speak she did from her heart! She began by saying that shortly before the show, the Food Bank’s financial situation was fast dipping to a critical low. Her employees, who are devoted to the Food Bank, agreed to take a ten per cent cut in pay, and still the group was informed that they had enough funds to last only a few short months even though they had a budget of $292,000.

Diana, who believes in fasting and praying, began doing so, and it wasn’t long before donations began coming in from all directions–financial donations and food donations (bread, cereal, energy bars, etc.). Diana quoted the Bible, which told of an instance in which the Lord multiplied bread to feed the multitudes, and she firmly believes that He multiplied their supplies as well.
She thanked the Ladybirds for what they contributed to the Food Bank and she thanked the Lord for meeting their needs!
