Ladybirds & Lorelei
The two ladies barbershop groups met at Centerville for a get-together with food and music on June 26th as scheduled. The evening was, by and large, quite successful. We all met at a local park and ride and carpooled to the site. When we got there, though, no one had a key to get into the building and the man who usually would provide the key (and who lives very close by) was not at home. The weather was frightfully HOT! It took over thirty minutes to get yet a different individual to come bring a key so we could get all our foodstuffs inside and have a meal and sing together for awhile.

The Lorelei Chorus
That accomplished, though, we had a great time, spending some time with the Bedford Ladies group called Lorelei. Their group lined up and introduced themselves shortly after we all enjoyed a meal of “finger” foods. Then they sang a couple of their favorite numbers (Wait Till The Sun Shines, Nellie and one other). They had only eight people in attendance—with only one lead, but they did a very nice job of their two songs.
After that, the two groups sang several numbers together, including The Cohan Medley, I’m Still Havin Fun, Music Music Music, and San Francisco Bay Blues. Dee Stepfys directed her group, of course, and the combined group for San Francisco Bay Blues. Ellie directed the Ladybirds and we taught the Lorelei group: The Baby Tag, Doo Bee Doo Wah, The Jewish Joy To The World, and Sing Your Way Home. We gave them copies of the aforementioned and Meet Me In St. Louis, Louis. The Lorelei group seemed really interested in learning the new pieces.

Ladybirds & Lorelei
Jim said the combined group really sounded wonderful. He requested that a couple of the quartets present perform a song or two. Three Katz & A Mouse sang Heart of My Heart and Afternoon Delight did Where Oh Where.
We cleaned up and cleared out of there rather quickly as the storm was pretty nasty and there was talk of a tornado. Soon after we got on the road toward home, the rain let up and the roads were dry. We saw a little bit of evidence of rain when we got closer to Cumberland.

Snacks For All
Undoubtedly, Lorelei and Ladybirds will get together again in the future. The ladies of the two groups really enjoy each other and their common interest in music.
