The Ladybirds had a lovely Christmas Party held at Hobo’s Restaurant in Hyndman, Pennsylvania on December 11th. There were eighteen Ladybirds present for the occasion.

The pre-arrangements for the party were made by Earlene Fradiska, and the ladies had a choice of several entrees. The various selections were excellent. People particularly enjoyed the coconut custard pie for dessert. The restaurant was festively decorated for the Christmas season, and everyone loved seeing Hobo’s tree and Santa with his wonderful sleigh!

The Ladybirds have had a rather busy schedule of late. This is normal for the Christmas Season, of course, as the group is often invited to entertain for various Christmas celebrations in the local area.

Golden Living Center

The final Christmas sing out was held on December 18th at the Golden Living Center Nursing Home on Winifred Road. We entertained a nice group of the residents of the former Cumberland Nursing Home, including Charlie Chalkley, who is recovering from a system infection which affected the site of a previous knee replacement. Charlie and his wife were able to attend the Ladybird’s performance, though.

Shirley’s Non-Christmas Present

It saddens all of the Ladybirds to hear of Shirley Carson’s latest siege with cancer. She revealed to the ladies on December 2nd that tests indicate that there is another tumor in the other lung now. Her surgeon from the previous lung surgery, Dr. Schmidt was leaving his practice shortly after this latest discovery, but he wrote a letter to the doctor who will take over Shirley’s care and explained all of the preceding history. The new doctor’s name is Doctor Deb, and Shirley has been very impressed with him.
