About Afternoon Delight
About The Ladybirds
About Three Katz & A Mouse
The Afternoon Delight quartet has been in existence for many years and is still very active today. They chose their name, Afternoon Delight, because they claim that being out in the afternoons (or evenings) singing their hearts out is far more appealing than staying at home and cooking or cleaning house! They have a brief song, lyrics written by Ellie Batchelor, and arrangement by Jim West. The song, entitled Afternoon Delight, introduces their quartet and states their love of the barbershop style of music. The members of the quartet include: Shirley Carson (bass), Jackie Gillis (baritone), Mary Schaver (lead), and Ellie Batchelor (tenor).
Afternoon Delight practices weekly and performs individual programs. Being devoted members of the Ladybirds Barbershop Harmony Singers, the quartet sings an integral part of each of the Ladybirds programs. To hear samples of Afternoon Delight’s music, visit the May You Always CD page, where you can listen to various tracks.
Afternoon Delight has entertained at birthday parties, nursing homes, Red Hat Ladies functions, weddings, funerals, hospitals, business groups, church functions, parties, singing valentines, at the local radio station WCBC, wedding engagement celebrations, and even on a cruise ship.
