Santa’s Salvation Stockings0
The Ladybirds got really enthusiastic as they went about shopping for presents to stuff Christmas stockings for The Salvation Army to give to less fortunate children. The idea for this project came from Betty Twigg who went over to The Salvation Army building and picked up stockings for those who volunteered to stuff them. The ladies really enjoyed going shopping together and then pooling some of their “loot” together to distribute the items among the dozen or so stockings that were filled.
The night the stockings were turned in to Betty for delivery to The Salvation Army, the group was performing one of their many Christmas shows. They were all dressed in their festive Christmas tops and wore Santa Hats. Stuffing the stockings brought the Ladybirds as much Christmas joy as they did to the children who received them. Major Sue, of The Salvation Army, was extremely pleased with the number of stockings that so many organizations prepared for Christmas giving, and she said, “You should have seen the eyes and the happy smiles on the children’s faces as they received their stockings.”
