Santa’s Salvation Stockings

Posted in Charity on Monday, December 12, 2005

The Ladybirds got really enthusiastic as they went about shopping for presents to stuff Christmas stockings for The Salvation Army to give to less fortunate children. The idea for this project came from Betty Twigg who went over to The Salvation Army building and picked up stockings for those who volunteered to stuff them. The ladies really enjoyed going shopping together and then pooling some of their “loot” together to distribute the items among the dozen or so stockings that were filled.

The night the stockings were turned in to Betty for delivery to The Salvation Army, the group was performing one of their many Christmas shows. Major Sue, of The Salvation Army, was extremely pleased with the number of stockings that so many organizations prepared for Christmas giving, and she said, “You should have seen the eyes and the happy smiles on the children’s faces as they received their stockings.”

Tragedy Strikes in New York

Posted in Charity, News, Patriotic on Friday, September 14, 2001

A patriotic show at Constitution Park was very somber as crowds of people came to express their grief over the attack on September 11, 2001 in which thousands of people were killed. Shortly after that tragedy, the Ladybirds performed patriotic songs on a CD called A New America. Everyone was pulling together, praying, singing patriotic songs, and helping the victims and survivors of those who lost their lives in that tragic terrorist attack.
