On October 24, 2009, a number of the Ladybirds and several guests traveled to Somerset County to attend the Annual Roof Garden Chorus Barbershop Show at the local senior high school---matinée showing.

The group arrived at the Eat 'n Park Restaurant for lunch before going over to the barbershop show, a routine they have followed for a number of years, actually.

This show marked the twenty-sixth anniversary of the Roof Garden Chorus, and their mission is to provide wholesome musical entertainment for the citizens of Somerset County.

There were fourteen people who attended the annual summer picnic held at Betty Twigg's home on September 3, 2009. The event was a potluck dinner and fun for all. People began to arrive around 5 p.m., loaded with goodies for the feast. There were green salads, cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, carrot/raisin salad, fried chicken, meatballs, spaghetti, mini sandwiches, and fruit tray; desserts were very delectable and included heart smart cake, chocolate/peanut butter birthday cake for the Ladybirds, pina colada cake for all the lushes in the crowd, chocolate and peanut butter fudge, donuts, peach/apple/blueberry cobbler, and key lime pie. There could well have been more, but that's all this writer can recall at this point.

Hi, Ladybirds -

We're celebrities. June 20th is our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We were treated to a night in a real castle in Scotland last year to celebrate the occasion.

Judy and Ken put together a video of pictures from our wedding and others occasions over the years, including some from the castle. Then they posted it with the song Golden Jubilee on YouTube. Anyone anywhere in the world can see our video. Other people have posted their videos for anniversaries or other milestones or special events.

Just thought you'd enjoy seeing the video. It isn't Susan Boyle; it's just us!

The Ladybirds gathered at Devlin Manor Nursing Home to sing for the residents on May 28, 2009. They had a special reason to go there because one of their own is currently there for rehab on a broken hip.

Jennifer Bennett, one of the newest Ladybirds, is a cancer survivor. She has had several surgeries and lots of treatments over the last several years.

It’s a mighty sad day, as we prepare to say goodbye to our Jackie. She has been such a wonderful friend to us all. She was a Ladybird par excellence! Jackie was always the backbone of the baritone section, and she manned the baritone part alone on many occasions. She knew her notes and lyrics perfectly, and she could sing her part by herself from the beginning of any song to its end!

At the last moment, Joan Ralston discovered that there was a benefit dinner and barbershop concert to be held on March 12th at Martinsburg, Pennsylvania. She called around to members of the Ladybirds and Ellie communicated to those who can receive email to notify them that practice that Thursday night (03-12) would be canceled because a fair number of ladies expressed interest in attending the event, which was to benefit the Memorial Park, the site of the dinner/entertainment.

The restaurant was festively decorated for the Christmas season, and everyone loved seeing Hobo's tree and Santa with his wonderful sleigh!

The final Christmas sing out was held on December 18th at the Golden Living Center Nursing Home on Winifred Road. We entertained a nice group of the residents of the former Cumberland Nursing Home, including Charlie Chalkley, who is recovering from a system infection which affected the site of a previous knee replacement. Charlie and his wife were able to attend the Ladybird's performance, though.
